Gloria Bryant Poythress, 64, of Wilson, died Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Any memorial services will be for and at the convenience of the family

After working for 10 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil and Water Conservation Division Gloria decided to work full time with her husband, David as owner/operator of Poythress Amusements.  For 30 years Poythress Amusements brought joy and happiness to many.  Gloria put her heart and soul into helping others and putting a smile on their faces.  Whether it was making cotton candy, candy apples, or organizing a birthday party.

Upon retirement she found joy caring for her grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of helping others.

Gloria’s selfless heart of gold impacted everyone who knew and loved her. She was a fierce defender and took on any challenges within her path.

Surviving is her husband, David V. Poythress; daughter, Anya Capps (significant other, Robert Ward) of Wilson; son, Pruitt Poythress of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Natalie Capps; grandsons, Ethan and Hudson Capps; sister, Betty Bogue (Jesse) of Wilson; brother, Robert Bryant of Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pervise and Esther Pearson Bryant; sister, Mary Lou Proctor.
