Pauline Taylor

WASHINGTON, NC  -  Pauline Barnes Taylor, 93, formerly of Stantonsburg, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Washington, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, surrounded by family and devoted pets.

Graveside service will be held Friday, January 14, 1:00 PM at the Kenly Cemetery, officiated by Bobby Heath.

Mrs. Pauline, as she was affectionately called by many, was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Louis Gaston Taylor, Sr. and their young son, Marcus Van Taylor.

She is survived by her sons, Louis Taylor of Washington and Don Taylor of Winterville; daughter, Paula Taylor Cox and husband Casey of Washington; two loving grandsons, Samuel Louis Taylor of Richmond, VA and Drew Gaston Cox of Washington; brothers; Willard Barnes, JE Barnes and Bobby Barnes.

Her devotion to her husband of 55 years lead to her establish homes across the state during his 30 years of service with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and as Sheriff of Wilson County. She was giving of her time and talents to many over the years, which reflected in the visits and calls she had received over her final years.

She was very fortunate to live her last years with her daughter’s family, sons who assisted with her care, and two precious boxers, Phoebe and Bogue, whom she lovingly cared for daily. Mrs. Pauline was blessed with many precious caregivers who have become family, Mrs. Shirley Tyre, Mrs. Reba Moore, Tina Villafranco, and Cotina Woolard. Their love and dedication to her will always be cherished.

She loved her family and dedicated her time over the years to their schools as class mom, so dedicate a book to a school library in her memory at an area school. We would like to thank her doctor and staff at Physicians East -Farmville and Pruitt Hospice of New Bern for the wonderful end of life care she received. Her nurses always enjoyed their time with her along with her precious smile.
